Receeded

Escaped the floods again.. well, the waters have receeded. You would have seen on flickr, we got flooded again here. Worse this time, a meter more than last time... but at least it was still below our floor level. And we didn't lose anything... just had a lot of mud to clean out of our garage...
It was pretty insane... they had boats checking people down our street! BOATS! hahaha... and not blow up ones, but real aluminum boats... hahaha.. we are thinking of purchasing a boat and tieing it to our stairs, incase it happens again.. hahahaha

Came up to the same height as last time, or just below, and stopped for a little while and then continued to come up... to an incredible height compared to before. Was pretty crazy coming home through the waters! They even closed down Lutwyche Road because it was flooded... just insane.

We were lucky, Mateus was able to finish work early and come home and then moved everything from downstairs, shifted the washing-machine up on top of the laundry sinks and made sure our bins were secure before the water came up. Then he even came out and rescued me from the waters... :) such a good one!

That was pretty full on, and hit at a time when we've been rather preoccupied with other things... such as: buying a house!

Mateus and I have put an offer in to buy a townhouse in Zillmere... :) A two bedroom, two storey new townhouse that will be finished in June. We've put an offer, and have gone to the bank for the loan and are just waiting for confirmation of the loan and we've got all the money sorted... and yeah, it will be ours! Woohoo!!

Thats a link to a townhouse that is a mirror image of ours, ours is the same except on the opposite side... And ours will have wooden floors.

Pretty exciting hey?! Thanks for the help with getting it too... :)

Hope it all comes through. Will be great to have a place of our own... and a little strange too. I can't imagine living somewhere where I can do whatever I want... I mean, paint the walls or put in a nail or something without having to think about a landlord or real estate agent. That will be strange! haha.. A place of our own!

And we've already checked, its not flood prone! hoorah!! :D hahahaha

Pretty exciting stuff! Nature down there definately keeps you on your toes!
I'm glad you're looking at a house out of a flood zone now! I wasn't able to see it on the link, but i'll try again later.

:)

good luck with it!

Good that the water stopped rising hey..
and Mateus did a great job of preparing the place and rescuing you alright!
Yeah you'll love it in your own place for sure.

Never a dull moment it seems.
It looked pretty wild and woolly in the news.
Did you feel the house move?
The town house you're planning on buying looks pretty flash and the position is great with the train station just around the corner. Watch out I might come and visit more often, if it is within easy reach!

Yeah... very good that the water stopped... Mateus did a fantastic job, he's on the ball... :) We didn't really have a big storm or anything, it was just two days of rain.. heavy rain, non-stop.. and yeah, new place is very convenient! hehehe
